Writing a Teaching Statement

The School of Graduate Studies will sponsor a teaching workshop for both new and current graduate students along with new UND Faculty and Instructors.

This workshop is brought to you in partnership with the Teaching Transformation and Development Academy as part of the School of Graduate Studies teaching workshop series.

The teaching statement is a purposeful and reflective essay about the author's teaching and learning beliefs and practices. These documents are in annual evaluations, tenure and promotion files, and job applications. In this workshop, we will discuss the common elements of a teaching statement and introduce strategies for getting started and revising an existing document. Participants should be prepared to write - so bring a writing devise and your statement or draft (if you have one)!
