About this Event
The Environmental Law Society is bringing the Wild & Scenic Film Festival to Grand Forks! It is a collection of films from the annual festival held the third week of January in Nevada City, CA which is now in its 18th year! Wild & Scenic focuses on films which speak to the environmental concerns and celebrations of our planet.
This event was slated to be downtown with food vendors and a festival atmosphere. Due to Covid-19, the event has now migrated to an online streaming film festival for 2020. Thirteen films will be featured.
One film, Bring Them Home takes an intimate look at the only tribal-led buffalo drive in North America. The viewer will experience the power of the American bison and witness a ritual of stewardship. Another film, Homecoming, emphasizes the healing and strengthening connection to the Boundary Waters, as Joe Fairbanks reflects on his battle with cancer. Another film, Paradise, showcases the importance of working together to protect our special places, and “doing it right” when it comes to developing natural resources. The story is told through the eyes of an unlikely environmentalist with a backdrop of stunning shots of Montana’s Paradise Valley.
The festival is a natural extension of Environmental Law Society’s mission to inspire people to become aware of environmental issues, and have meaningful discussion about North Dakota’s challenge in balancing the interests of industry and environment.
