If you’re a resident of Grand Forks, early in-person voting begins this week at the Alerus Center! It will take place Oct. 26-30 and Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Rather wait until Election Day to vote? No problem! Election Day voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Alerus Center. No matter the day, get out and make your voice heard!

To request an absentee ballot in your home state, go here and locate the state you live in. You will be directed to your state’s website to fill out a request for an absentee ballot. All states (except North Dakota) require voters to pre-register, and some states have deadlines as early as October 4th. Registration links and deadlines can be found on the same website listed above.

Absentee/Mail – Go to this link and follow the instructions provided to get your absentee ballot
- You can either mail in your absentee ballot or drop it off at the address your ballot directs you to as soon as you receive it.
- ND ballots must be postmarked no later than November 2nd, the day before the election, to be counted.

- To vote in person you need one of the following: Valid North Dakota driver’s license, non-driver’s identification card, tribal government issued identification, or a long-term care identification certificate that includes your name, current North Dakota residential address, and date of birth.
- If your valid form of identification doesn’t include your current North Dakota residential address or date of birth you can supplement it with: A current utility bill, a current bank statement, a paycheck, or a check issued by federal, state, local, or tribal government OR update the address associated with your ND driver’s license online here, which will take you to the ND Department of Transportation Website. If you are a student living in the dorms, this is your best option.
- *Update you address online as soon as possible and AT LEAST 48 hours prior to election day to ensure it is processed. You must have been living at that residence for 30 days to register to vote there. Go to vote.nd.gov for more information.
