Journalist in Residence Alexander Heffner Student Presentation

Friday, November 8, 2024 10 am to 11 am

Renowned national journalist Alexander Heffner, UND's inaugural Journalist in Residence, will present a brief lecture followed by audience Q&A for students in the UND Department of Communications, from 10-11 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 8, in the Henry Family Ballroom of the Memorial Union.

Heffner is host of PBS’s “The Open Mind” and "Breaking Bread with Alexander" on Bloomberg TV. Dedicated to examining the challenges and opportunities in American democracy, Heffner has interviewed leaders from across the political spectrum, fostering balanced, respectful conversations on critical issues. His work emphasizes the crucial role of civility in bridging divides, making him a compelling advocate for thoughtful dialogue in today's polarized climate. Heffner’s commitment to promoting constructive solution-oriented conversations equips him to deliver an insightful and impactful presentation on how civil discourse can strengthen the nation.

This event is part of a UND Communications Course (Comm 313 Persuasion, which typically meets in Room 1 of O'Kelly Hall on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays). Heffner's presentation is open to all interested UND students and will be livestreamed.
