Cost: $20

When most people think of a convention, they think of sales and promotion. Yet there are many people for whom a convention is a place to share ideas, to discuss scientific discoveries, or impart knowledge to others. There's nothing financial in it for you; in fact, it might even be a nonprofit event, or your company might be nonprofit. Although the setting is different from the typical exhibition, trade show exhibits can still help you make your points clearly and communicate well with your audience.

Portable Exhibits Are Like Portable Presentations

Before there were computers, portable exhibits were the only way to include a visual element to your presentation. Although you may have switched to computerized presentations at the office or in the lab, when you're presenting in an exhibition hall, finding proper lighting and facilities to display a computer slideshow can be difficult. If you're presenting in a side room or have other specialized circumstances it can be doable, but most presenters find a simple classic display to be the best choice. When properly designed, they make an effective communication tool even in large crowds.

Organizing Your Trade Show Exhibits For Education

Any presentation requires an organization to be successful, and your educational exhibition is no exception. When you are designing it, be sure that you don't overwhelm your audience with too much information. Will you be using this display as a complement to a presentation? If so, don't include all the major points of your speech on it. Use it as an accompaniment, not the main attraction. If the main points are revealed before you ever start talking, people will think there is no reason to listen so attentively.

However, portable exhibits can also be a powerful tool for use in large settings where presentations are impossible. If this is your experience, then you will want to reveal as much educational content on the board as possible without overwhelming your visitors. To supplement what you can't put on the actual display, use brochures. For true educational value, brochures are a great addition to trade show exhibits because it can be taken home at the end of the day. Brochures continue educating and act as reference tools long after the event.

Small Touches With A Big Impact

Your first concern should be with the organization of material on the portable displays and the arrangement of flyers and brochures. After you've gotten the basics set, there are other things you can do to further facilitate a positive learning experience. First, you can consider stocking pens and small notepads at your booth for anyone who might want to take notes. If you are representing a company at this educational event, you may choose to bring notepads or pens that feature your company logo. If not, simply arranging a donation from a local office supply store will suffice. Although most visitors will likely bring their own, there are inevitably some who will forget and be very grateful that you can assist them.

In addition, you can help visitors understand what you're teaching by using banner stands. These are smaller displays which are great for placing outside your booth's perimeter. If people are looking for you, the banner will help them find you. If not, the banner is an eye-catching way to communicate more about what you have to offer. Passersby may see it and decide they want to learn more.

There are many ways to enrich a great display. Create a great booth, and then add special touches to cater to your audience's tastes and interests. When you're dealing with an educational event, ensure that everything offers knowledge and you can't go wrong.
