School of Law: Coffee with a Law Clerk

Monday, September 17, 2018 10:30 am to 1:30 pm

Ashley Hinds, Judicial Law Clerk with the South Central Judicial District, will be on campus on Monday, September 17, 2018, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM for “Coffee with A Law Clerk.”  Ashley will discuss the duties of a judicial law clerk and the opportunities available within the South Central Judicial District. Clerkships are an invaluable experience for an aspiring lawyer. In addition to a competitive salary and state benefits including retirement, health insurance, paid holidays, and paid vacation/sick leave, a judicial clerkship with the SCJD offers the opportunity to work closely with nine judges and two judicial referees, improve your research and writing skills, see attorneys in action, gain a deeper understanding of how judges decide cases, become intimately familiar with the logistics of litigation, and get exposed to several different areas of the law. There are also personal benefits, such as developing life-long friendships with your co-clerk and judges and enjoying a better work-life balance than you might find at a law firm. Be sure to stop by to enjoy a cup of coffee, a donut, and chat with Ashley!
