About this Event
This workshop will help graduate students decide whether to test the job market after the completion of their program or pursue additional education, all while considering some of the positives and negatives associated with both options. To help with the decision-making process, we will explore job postings within higher education and from relevant industries to view current employment opportunities and their educational requirements.
Some students may find that personally interesting or fulfilling positions within higher education and industry do not require additional education after the completion of their current program. Others will find that their interests, career goals, and aspirations may require an additional or terminal degree, if they are not already pursuing those opportunities.
Students should walk away with (1) Skills and methods to search and apply for jobs within higher education and relative industries, (2) a better understanding of the employment opportunities associated with their current degree, and (3) a better idea of employers’ educational requirements and if additional education after the completion of their current program is required for their career goals and aspirations.
