When: July 21- 25, 2025

Who:  Rising 10th-12th graders

Learn how to: Use DNA fingerprinting to identify potential crime scene suspects; test common foods for presence of genetically modified organisms (GMOs); perform ELISA to track disease outbreaks; use an enzyme found in mushrooms to explore biofuels and factors influencing reaction rates; perform genetic transformation in bacteria with a gene coding for a green fluorescent protein.

Hands-on performance of molecular biology laboratory experiments.  Participants will learn about and perform basic lab techniques commonly used in modern forensics, medicine and biology.
