MLK Week of Service

Thursday, January 18, 2024 9 am to 3 pm

Dr. King often spoke of forming a “Beloved Community” as an agency of social justice. In the Beloved Community, poverty, hunger, and homelessness are not to be tolerated because international standards of human decency will not allow it. This is where the idea for the service project came from. This week, stop by the 2nd Floor of the Memorial Union, suite 201 to help pack personal hygeine and supplies to create kits for those experiecing homelessness in our community.

The North Dakota Coalition for Homeless People shares point-in-time data (a count of sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing homelessness on a single night in January) which indicates that approximately 540 people are unhoused in North Dakota on any given night. Our goal is to package 300 kits that will be sitrubuted to unhoused individuals in the Greater Grand Forks Communtiy.
