About this Event
Join us for brunch as we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Our Theme, "Where do we go from here?", from Dr. King's speech on August 16, 1967, is timely as our University engages in diversity, equity, and inclusion work for a better tomorrow. This year's commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., brings civil rights activist, Rosalyn Pelles to Campus as our keynote speaker during brunch. Ms. Pelles has a long history of social justice activism with over five decades beginning with work as a teenager in the Congress of Racial Equality. As an activist and community leader that continues to engage in social justice work, it was only fitting that Ms. Pelles provide the keynote during this important day!
Additionally, as a day of service, we recognize and honor the work being done in our campus community. Following the keynote, we will award recipients of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Social Justice Award. The award is given to individuals that actively demonstrate a commitment to social justice in the UND community. These are individuals that strive for social change, advocate for diverse students, faculty, and staff, and have made a significant impact on our community. Award recipients are selected by the Martin Luther King Jr. Planning Committee.
