How to Develop an Effective Syllabus

Thursday, October 1, 2020 10 am to 11 am

Virtual Event

The School of Graduate Studies will sponsor a teaching workshop for both new and current graduate students along with new UND Faculty and Instructors. This workshop is brought to you in partnership with the Teaching Transformation and Development Academy as part of the School of Graduate Studies teaching workshop series

A well-crafted syllabus ensures that students understand the essential requirements and instructor’s expectations for participating and succeeding in a course. Therefore, a syllabus is more than just a place to list course policies and due dates.  A well-designed syllabus can also serve as a learning tool to enhance students’ overall experience in the course. This session will:

  • Identify the essential elements of an effective syllabus
  • Review current best practices in syllabus design
  • Explore Universal Design for Learning and accessibility guidelines
  • Examine a University of North Dakota syllabus template

Led by: Elizabeth Becker, Instructional Design Coordinator, TTaDA

Registration for these sessions is required. The link to participate in the session virtually will be sent to you in a confirmation email immediately upon registration.
