Her Votes Count Opening Reception

UND Art Collections presents, Her Votes Count, a juried exhibition featuring regional artists. Her Votes Count celebrates the spirit of the women before us who fought for the right to vote, beginning with the suffragist movement a century ago and the subsequent fight for women of color to gain equal voting rights. Participating artists have been invited to interpret the theme as they choose through their work.

Her Votes Count Opening Reception: 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Empire Arts Center

Special Guests: Renowned Artist, Nelda Schrupp and former U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp.

Refreshments will be served. Brief presentation at 5:15.

Other Scheduled Events Include:

Women's Leadership Panel 12:00 to 1:30, free lunch at 11:30

Panelists include: former U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp, Susan Carter, President of the National Women's Party, North Dakota Senators JoNell Bakke and Judy Lee; and Marilyn Youngbird, Consultant with Mandan Hidatsa and Arikara Nation

Screening of Iron Jawed Angels 6:30 to 8:30

Standing Together: Women's Ongoing Fight for Equality, 11:30 to 8:30

Poster exhibition sponsored by the National Women's Party
