Guest Saxophonist-Aurora Series Todd Goranson Lecture

Sunday, November 17, 2019 7 pm to 9 pm

Dr. Todd Goranson will be presenting a lecture on Sunday, November 17, at 7:00pm, titled “Fight, Flight, or Freeze: Overcoming Performance Anxiety”. This presentation will discuss practical ways to cope and excel in high-pressure moments such as a musical performance.  Dr. Goranson has presented this lecture at conferences of the Texas Music Educators Association, the North American Saxophone Alliance, the International Saxophone Symposium, and others.

 

On Monday, November 18, at 2:00pm, Dr. Goranson will be presenting a saxophone masterclass, and then a saxophone recital at 8:00pm. He will be performing works by Bonneau, Bozza, Eccles, Rueff, and ter Veldhuis. All events are free and open to the public. 

 

Currently an Associate Professor of Music (Bassoon/Saxophone/Jazz) at Messiah College, PA, Dr. Goranson previously served on the faculties of Texas A&M University-Commerce and Frostburg State University. Goranson has enjoyed a performance career playing saxophone and bassoon in a wide variety of settings and genres.  In addition to his own performing groups, he has appeared in concert with a diverse list of artists including Ray Charles, Johnny Mathis, the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra and more.
