About this Event
On February 24, 1987, astronomy student Ian Shelton, working at a remote mountaintop observatory in Chile, discovered the nearest and brightest supernova ever seen in nearly 400 years. Since 1987, astronomers have undertaken detailed studies of the aftermath of the supernova explosion, uncovering secrets on how massive stars die. Dr. Ian Shelton will be a guest on the Cosmic Pi podcast on Tuesday March 19 @ 3 PM central time.
