Come and learn about leadership from a university/community leader during our 18:83 Speaker Series! Each session will be at 2:30pm on a Wednesday in the Memorial Union (1st floor Social Stair). Each speaker will be focusing on leadership and personal/professional development for students.
This week's presenter is Dr. Art Malloy, Vice President for Student Affairs at UND. Dr. Malloy earned his doctorate in higher education management from The University of Georgia, Athens, a master’s degree in African/African-American studies from The Ohio State University and a bachelor’s in film and television from Shaw University, Raleigh, N.C.
Prior to his role at UNC Pembroke, Malloy held leadership positions at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, where he served as dean of student success, and Winston-Salem (N.C.) State University, where he served as associate vice chancellor for student affairs and dean of students. He also held leadership roles at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Wittenberg University, The Ohio State University and North Carolina State University.
Malloy is a diversity and inclusion strategist and was appointed by the chancellor at UNC Pembroke to serve as co-chair for the Inclusion and Diversity Council to drive institutional efforts to promote a welcoming environment for all students, faculty and staff. He has received numerous awards for meritorious service throughout his career. Malloy was inducted into Alpha Epsilon Rho Honor Society for Electronic Media, Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society for Adult Learners and Golden Key International Honor Society.
His research interests include college choice and the sense of belonging, moral development of college students, and the impact of inclusion and diversity efforts on professionalism and career readiness of college students.
