This week's speaker is Lt. Col. Jared Budenski, Professor of Military Science at UND ROTC.

Lieutenant Colonel Jared Budenski is originally from New Ulm, Minnesota. He entered active duty in May 2000 attending Navy Boot Camp at Great Lakes, Illinois. In September 2007, he entered Officer Candidate School at Fort Moore, Georgia. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Military Police Regiment on 10 January 2008. Lieutenant Colonel Budenski graduated from Military Police Officer Basic Course in July 2008 and the Military Police Captain’s Career Course in December 2011. Lieutenant Colonel Budenski is married to Jill Budenski, and they have one son, Jake and one daughter, Jacey. In his spare time, he likes to spend time with his family, reads, travels, and likes to run.

His professional military education includes Military Police Officer Basic and Captain’s Career Courses, Command and General Staff College, Common Faculty Development-Instructor Course, and U.S. Army Military Police School Law Enforcement Senior Leaders Course.

Lieutenant Colonel Budenski currently serves as the Professor of Military Science at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, North Dakota. He is the senior officer responsible for the health, welfare, education, and training of Army ROTC Cadets with an annual Commissioning mission of 11 Cadets across all components/branches of the Army.

Lieutenant Colonel Budenski has served in a variety of key assignments, most recently as the Assistant Professor of Military Science at Northern Illinois University, Dekalb, Illinois. Previous assignments include Executive Officer, Benning CID Battalion, Fort Moore, Georgia; S-3, 3-340^th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 181 Infantry Brigade, Fort McCoy, Wisconsin; Commander, 252^nd Military Police Detachment and 180^th Military Working Dog Detachments, 92^nd Military Police Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Anti-Terrorism Force Protection Officer, U.S. Army Central, CENTCOM, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; Platoon Leader, 545^th Military Police Company, 793^rd Military Police Battalion, Joint Base Elemendorf Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska.

Among his awards, decorations and badges are the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), Navy Achievement Medal (2GS) Navy Good Conduct Medal (1 BS), the National Defense Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal (1BS), the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Ribbon (3 Device), and the Navy Overseas Ribbon (1 BS), the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Army Superior Unit Award, and Navy Unit Commendation. He has also earned the Basic Army Instructor Badge, and the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency (Silver). In addition, he is the recipient of the Military Police Regiment’s Order of the Marechaussee in Bronze.
